ILS TRAINING
The aim of this suite of courses is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the Ten Integrated Logistic Management disciplines that are prevalent throughout the International Defence arena and that are used by Australian Defence Industry in support of their products and services.
The courses are provided as stand alone modules that may be selected individually to suit the participant and given some negotiated pre-requisite skills, may be independent of the previous or proceeding modules.
The key output of the training is to provided the participants with an understanding of the tools and techniques used within the industrial community and the expectation of clients regarding the development and delivery of the specific ILS products.
The course contains lecture style delivery, with ample opportunity for interaction and contribution, with practical exercises and examples utilised throughout to fully demonstrate the ILS elements, effects, inputs and outputs.
All modules are based on a central theme with the following general headings:
Module One - Introduction to the ILS disciplines.
This is an introduction module that is aimed at personnel who have any interaction with the technical based projects, processes and products.  The target audience for this module includes the following broad categories of personnel:
  • design staff
  • engineering staff
  • management staff (introduction)
  • maintenance personnel
  • stores personnel
  • spare parts procurers
  • project procurement staff
  • project or general office staff
  • ILS introduction (new comers)
  • ILS refresher (all personnel)
Module Three - Logistic Support Analysis Record (ILS recording, analysis and data management).
This is a standalone module, that builds on the details of the first and second modules and is aimed at personnel who have higher level of hands on data management and data gathering responsibility, with a greater technical and logistic interaction with the delivery of complex capabilities, such as major capabilities through a number of finite projects.  The target audience for this module includes the following broad categories of personnel:
  • design and through life support engineering staff
  • maintenance engineering staff
  • spares managers and spares estimators
  • project officers/managers
  • ILS Practitioners
  • Data Specialists
  • Project Data Management Personnel responsible for data entry into an LSAR or for system maintenance and management of an LSAR Data System. This does not mean that it has to be a formal LSAR Software Application as smaller projects may elect not to use LSAR Software, but wish to use the data in an LSAR/Defence compliant format.
This module completes the development of considerations for all of the principles of ILS and examines in detail the whole of life support aspects of ILS and considers where they may be applied for greatest competitive advantage.
This module also examines the LSAR in detail via theory and practical exercises.
